I C A N ‘ T B E L I E V E it’s already day 2 in the new year! 2017 flew by for me and while I accomplished a lot, it was still a bittersweet year for me. I have so much more I’d like to do and I’m hoping in 2018 I’ll be able to accomplish even more!
I hate to be cliché and put together a 2018 Resolutions, but to be honest I really like making Goal and To-Do lists. It helps me stay focused. So here I am, joining the mainstream and sharing with you all my 2018 Goals.
Let me know below what your 2018 Goals are and if any of your goals are similar to mine! I hope we can all work on helping each other achieve our 2018 Resolutions! 🙂
2018 Goals
1. Focus on Myself More
Let’s get the selfish one out of the way first. To be honest, I know this goal doesn’t sound the best and probably sounds a bit self-absorbed, but I’m okay with that. I’ve spent all my life saying ‘yes’ to others and helping a lot of people, including my friends and family. Knowing me, I’m still going to be super helpful and focused on others’ needs. But this past year has taught me a lot; one thing being that I need to start focusing on my dreams a bit more. Not only do I need to start carving out time dedicated to things I enjoy and things I want to accomplish, but I also need to push myself to turn towards working on things I enjoy instead of just watching Netflix at night when I’m “too tired” to do anything. So this goal is as much about learning to say “no” as it is about learning to say “yes” to myself and to the opportunities around me.
2. Work on Letting Go of Self-Doubt
Fear and self-doubt are my two biggest obstacles in life. I tend to get caught up in my head a lot (if your another INFJ you might understand this ;)). This year I want to incorporate more meditation and yoga into my life in order to try and let go this habit of mine to linger in self-doubt about my qualifications and abilities at work as well as in my blogging/social life as well. I need to embrace how awesome I am at certain things and use that to boost my confidence and kill it at work or here on the blog or to venture into things I might be avoiding.
3. Continue to Work on Getting Healthy.
I know, I know, everyone always says they’re going to “loose weight this year,” but I can’t help but continue to add this to my goals every year. Each year I progress a bit further in getting healthy. This past year I began my journey with Keto and went through the month of November killing it and learning more about my body and it’s likes and dislikes. I’ve learned that gluten and heavy carbs do not agree with my body and that diary is okay as long as it’s not in access within the same day. While I’m no longer on a strict Keto diet, I am still applying a lot of that lifestyle’s principles including eating low-carb and staying away from a lot of processed foods. This year I want to continue eating a low-carb, fresh food diet. I want to continue to listen to my body for when I’m hungry and when I’m not hungry. I want to drink more water and continue to utilize my MyFitnessPal app to keep track of what I’m eating and how I’m feeling.
But my biggest goal of getting healthy this year is to incorporate a workout routine back into my daily routine. I’ve always worked out in waves where I’d go strong for a couple of weeks and then fall off the routine and not go back to working out again until a couple of months later. This year, I’m working on creating a simple routine that will work for me and then committing to doing it everyday.
4. Grow in my Faith
I don’t usually talk about my religion or my faith here on the blog or in social media. It’s not something that I always broadcast and to be honest not something that I’ve always been committed to. I’ve struggled over the past few years with my faith and this year, I really want to work on growing stronger in my faith and reconnecting with it and with God. I’m participating in a Bible Study group online with some wonderful ladies and have also bought a journal and a devotional to help me spend some time with God each day. I’m really looking forward to deepening my relationship with God and reconnecting with my faith this year.
5. Continuing to Love Myself
As you might know if you’ve read my blog at all before this, I’ve always struggled with self-love. Loving yourself for who you are no matter what is hard (at least for me). Self-love is something I’ve struggled with since I could remember. I’ve always nit-picked from what I looked like to my accomplishments in life. I was always finding something “wrong” with myself. During the past two years I’ve been working hard to turn that mindset around. While I can say that I’ve progressed so much in how I used to treat myself to how I treat myself now, I also know that continuing to love yourself is a daily choice and a constant struggle. There are going to be days (or even weeks) when I’m not giving myself enough credit or when I’m not allowing myself to be happy with where I’m at personally and look-wise. So I know that I need to always keep this goal on my yearly list of resolutions, because self-love is a journey and like all journeys there are going to be ups and downs. But the end goal is always going to be self-love and happiness.

Have a happy & goal-crushing 2018 loves! I cannot wait to see what this year brings us 🙂
